When to shift electricity use to lower both cost and carbon

Electricity is not equally cheap or clean at every hour. This project shows when using it costs less, for the wallet and for the climate.

The question

When should a Dutch household shift its electricity use to lower both cost and carbon at the same time?

Share of cheap and low-carbon hours by local hour, peaking between 12:00 and 16:00Key figures and hourly electricity price against carbon intensity

The work

Hourly price and carbon data was validated and analysed, then turned into a public dashboard anyone can read. The best window came out at 12:00 to 16:00, Amsterdam time.
